A Literary Saloon and Site of Review Supporting the complete review:
While the complete review is not a money-losing venture, it survives only because those involved in the upkeep and expansion of the site receive essentially no remuneration for their work.
NOTE: users should feel under no obligation whatsoever to give anything -- even merely a second thought -- to the complete review. The site will continue to operate as always, and to be fully and freely available to any and all users, regardless of whether or not anyone donates anything, for the foreseeable future. Any and all users are always welcome, and should feel no guilt whatsoever if they are not paying anything for use of the site !Users who are willing and able (don't even think of giving if would be a hardship for you !) to provide additional support to the complete review can do so in a number of ways:
Direct contribution: for larger amounts users might prefer sending money directly. Contact us by e-mail to make such arrangements. Purchase books for us: publishers aren't always willing (or able) to provide us with the books we'd like to review, and we often can't afford to buy them -- but you can buy them for us ! Our Amazon.com wishlist lists books we'd like to cover but haven't been able to get our hands on. Added advantage: you can select what books we get -- and chances are very good we'll be reviewing whatever titles come our way this way relatively quickly. Subscriptions: magazine and journal subscriptions are expensive and largely beyond our minimalist budget. Given the limited (ever more limited, it sometimes seems) availability of free access to many publications on the Internet and the difficulties associated with perusing them in other locales (such as libraries) our job (collecting reviews and commenting on literary goings-on) would be made much easier if we received many of the leading (and obscure) literary magazines and journals which we currently do not have easy access to. Users willing to pay for a subscription for a periodical -- send us the New Statesman ! The Hudson Review ! or any of dozens of other periodicals ! -- would be helping us out a great deal. (And the periodicals also benefit, since they're the ones receiving the cash.) Contact us by e-mail to make such arrangements. If you can contribute, we'd certainly appreciate it. If you can't, don't worry about it. In either case: enjoy the site ! NOTE to US taxpayers: The complete review is not -- we repeat: not -- registered as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization at this time (and does not expect to be in the foreseeable future). Contributions are therefore not tax-deductible (or tax-exempt). Any and all contributions are thus truly and fully yours (and truly charitable), and are not indirectly subsidized by other taxpayers.
